This 1940s detached two-storey house sits on its own site surrounded by garden. The house did not connect with this landscape, apart from a draughty conservatory which was too hot in summer and too cold in winter.

The house was remodelled at the front and rear, and internally gutted and re-fitted with better livingspaces and all new bathrooms. The livingspace was extended into the garden with a high quality sunroom. The sunroom has been fitted with a solid roof in order to avoid the solar gain from the south facing rear of the house. High quality glazing, added wall and roof insulation and solar panels serve to move this house into the 'green' age.
